Meet Tyler, my latest Little Hero. Tyler contracted a virus when he was only one week old. The virus attacked his whole body, organ by organ. His heart was damaged and he now has Dilated Cardiomyopathy, one part of his heart wall does not work at all. Tyler remains stable with the aid of 5 medications he takes throughout the day and very close monitoring by his team of doctors. We met up at Coonskin Park for his session where he had a blast playing with his brother on the slide and swing, throwing sticks in the pond and watching the ducks swim. He was such a cutie in his little hat =) Here are a few of my favorites from this little heroes session.

Little Hero

April 12, 2009

The Littlest Heroes Project www.littlestheroesproject.org is a non-profit based organization founded in January 2008, made up of professional photographers nationwide that provide free photo sessions to our nations Littlest Heroes. I joined the group last year and Isaac is my very first hero, Isaac was diagnosed with Prader Willi Syndrome, (PWS) a rare genetic disorder. Isaac’s mother mentioned over the phone that he was just starting to gain a little head/neck control but wasn’t able to hold his own head up, PWS causes poor muscle tone. At first I was nervous and worried about how I was going to capture little Isaac but I knew Jesus would help me and He did. Another symptom of PWS is the part of the brain that controls feelings of fullness or hunger does not work properly and causes a constant feeling of hunger, Isaac uses a g-tube/mic-key button for feeding. Issac also has Cortical Vision Impairment, (CVI) but he has the most beautiful blue eyes I’ve ever seen. He was such a little cutie, his parents Angela and Eric drove in from out of town last weekend and here are a few shots from his session.
